It is the eve of a major battle in the Choking In The Depths saga. While the people who rule over the city wait for the battle to begin, a young woman named Shyla arrives at the place that her twin brother has arranged for her to assassinate an infamous general. Before Shyla can carry out her mission, however, the general's daughter arrives on the scene and tries to stop her. As Shyla struggles against the daughter and the guardsmen, her brother arrives on the scene, but in order to save his sister, he too gives his life to distract the guardsmen and allow the girl to escape.
Shyla arrives back at her twin's apartment, where she finds a man that she recognizes as her brother. The man explains to her that her mission is to stop the general, that the general has done terrible things, and that the general has been poisoning the water that supplies the people of the city. Shyla is shocked by this revelation, but is still not prepared to kill a girl who her brother has said was raised by a monster who has been poisoning the city.
The girl is taken into the apartment where Shyla can see that she has been locked up. The girl begins to talk to Shyla, telling her that she had the same dream as Shyla, and even knowing that Shyla is her sister.
Shyla, still not prepared to murder a girl, begs the girl's father to set her free. The girl's father, however, is too powerful and his guards prevent Shyla from leaving the room. Her sister is taken from the room, and Shyla is locked in.
Shyla, still determined to go to her mission, begins to search through the city for a way to stop the general. Her searches lead her to the general's palace where a woman named Nia is helping people that have been poisoned by the general. Shyla helps Nia and she tells her about her encounter with the girl's father. Nia realizes that Shyla must have something that belonged to the general.
As Shyla leaves Nia's house, she comes upon her brother, who tells her that the general has been killed by a member of his army. Shyla explains that she has had the same dream as Nia and tells her brother about his sister. The brother's soldiers arrive and ask if Shyla is the one who was sent to kill him. Shyla tells them that she wants to free Nia. The brother tells Shyla that he will take her to the general's army, and they both walk out of the city.
Shyla and her brother reach the city's outskirts where they are met by the girl's father. The father recognizes Shyla and tells her that the general was responsible for poisoning the water in his city. The father explains that he could have killed the general and stopped his crimes, but instead decided to let him live, and as a result, he has turned his family into monsters. As Shyla is still unwilling to harm a girl, the father's soldiers begin to restrain her and drag her into a holding cell.
Shyla, who still can't believe that her sister is the one who murdered her, returns to Nia's house where she finds that Nia has fallen unconscious and is in need of healing. Shyla decides to help Nia, and begins to meditate to reach her. Nia's father catches Shyla trying to help Nia and begins to restrain her. Shyla is freed of her restraints and attacks the father and runs away from the city.
Shyla decides to return to the city and try to save Nia. However, she is captured by the same father that captured her and brought her to the palace. As the father leads her to the general, she begins to think about how she had the same dream as Nia and realizes that she is in the same situation.
Shyla pleads to the general that she is not the assassin that he is looking for. The general asks if she believes that the father of Nia is a good man and that he can save his daughter. Shyla explains that Nia told her father that the general had been poisoning the water and poisoning the people. Nia's father, however, doesn't believe that she is telling the truth and asks Shyla if she believes that Nia's father is a good man. Shyla says that she believes that Nia's father could have done more to stop the general. As the general prepares to execute her, he tells Shyla that he doesn't care what she believes and she doesn't have much time to live anyway. The general then turns away, and Shyla is freed.
Shyla runs to the general's palace where she sees Nia. Shyla asks Nia if the father was right and if she is really her sister. Nia explains that they are twins. Shyla asks Nia if she really believes her father when she told her about the general poisoning the water. Nia says that she doesn't know what to believe, and Shyla asks her why she did what she did. Nia explains that the dream was haunting her and that she wanted to save herself and the people of her city. Shyla tells Nia that she is glad that she did what she did, but as she turns to leave, she realizes that Nia has been poisoned.
Nia dies and Shyla runs back to her apartment where she finds her twin brother. Shyla apologizes to her brother for not believing in
