Erik Larson’s “The Emperor’s New Clothes” is a satirical tale about a prince and a lot of lying and trickery. The prince is on a journey to get married and on his way he encounters an old beggar and his new clothes. When the prince sees the new clothes, he praises the old man for his style and for creating such clothes. After praising him he gives him money and goes on his way. But, when he goes to the emperor he finds the emperor naked except for the new clothes. So, the prince becomes so embarrassed that he does not say anything. But the entire court is laughing at the prince.


The story is about being in a group where everyone is pretending to be something they are not.

Jill Murphy is a successful writer for kids. Her debut novel “Dorothy Parker Said It Better” is a touching story about a little girl called Dorothy and her adventures. The story is about a girl named Dorothy and her dog. She is a young girl living in the country. One day, she receives an invitation from her neighbor to a tea party. There, she meets a number of people and her dog. She also meets the man who is having a tea party. After that, she has a lot of problems because of the man who sent the invitation.


The story is about how a little girl takes control of her own life.


4. “The Monkey’s Paw”-W.W. Jacobs


“The Monkey’s Paw” is a short story written by American author W.W. Jacobs in 1899. He was famous for writing “The Monkey’s Paw” which is the first story in this list. The story is about a monkey’s paw, which can grant three wishes and all of them will come true. A man got a monkey’s paw when he was at a pub and had a fight with another man. The man got a broken hand and died. His wife got the monkey’s paw as a reminder of him. One day, she says that she needs a few things to take care of the house and the monkey’s paw gives her what she needs.


It is about the magic of fate.


5. “The Three Robbers”-J.R.R Tolkien


“The Three Robbers” is a story written by English author J.R.R Tolkien. He had written a book titled “The Lord of the Rings” in 1954 and it became a bestseller. The story is about three robbers and a bandit. The three robbers are called the Three Brothers and they are brothers. They steal many things from a castle and rob many people. After they finished robbing the castle, they become friends with a bandit, called the Bandit of the Vale. The story is written in simple language and with beautiful words.


The story is about the power of friendship and trust.


6. “The Man Who Sold His Soul”-Charles Dickens


Charles Dickens’s “The Man Who Sold His Soul” is a short story written in 1846. The story is about a businessman who sells his soul to a mysterious character. The businessman is an old man and he gets tired of spending most of his time with his daughter. So, he decides to ask for a second soul and the buyer can become young again.


The story is about the power of human greed.


7. “A Christmas Wish”-Jean Vanier


Jean Vanier is a Canadian author and social activist. “A Christmas Wish” is a short story by Jean Vanier. The story is about a little girl and her dreams. The story is about her grandmother and her grandmother’s dream to travel to Australia with her. Her dream was to meet a boy named Daniel
